Nutella Lawsuit: Nutella to Pay Up After Lawsuit... →
Italian confectioner Ferrero, maker of Nutella, must pay out over $3 million to consumers as part of the settlement of a class-action lawsuit that claims the nutty spread has little nutritional value.
I’m shocked, I tell you. Shocked!

minimalmac:
To keep your coworkers from making negative, and probably inaccurate, judgments about your job performance, spend five to ten minutes each day cleaning and straightening your workspace before heading home.
Some solid advice.

Seriously, people of America (and elsewhere), do yourselves a favour and listen to this podcast from the Planet Money team at NPR. It may be scary, but it is important. If you don’t ask the questions, none of the “answers” will make sense, and all of them, will be wrong.

Maksim Syrnikov Rediscovers Russian Food : The New... →
Russians don’t hold Russian food in particularly high esteem. When they eat out, they favor more exotic cuisines, like Italian or Japanese. The tendency to find foreign food more desirable is a prejudice that goes back centuries—to a time when the Russian aristocracy spoke French, not Russian—and it was exacerbated by the humiliating end of the Cold War and Russia’s subsequent opening to the West....

An open letter to open up EU seed laws →
It’s a good effort, and most welcome, even if it is probably doomed to failure. The sad part is that the list of signatories is completely dominated by the usual suspects. It’s almost as if the heavy hitters who are so keen on agricultural biodiversity for developing countries (and we all know who they are) see no common cause with what’s happening in their own back garden.
